AFRO HAIR TRANSPLANT

Designed to achieve natural density, texture harmony, and lasting results.

WHAT IS AN AFRO HAIR TRANSPLANT?

Individuals with Afro-textured hair, demonstrate a higher susceptibility to hair loss due to both extrinsic and intrinsic factors.

Styling practices such as chemical relaxing, heat application, tight braiding, or extensions frequently contribute to traction alopecia, a form of hair loss disproportionately affecting women of African heritage.

Structurally, Afro-textured hair exhibits approximately 20% lower follicular density, slower growth rates, and a higher proportion of follicles in the telogen phase compared to other hair types. In addition, its intrinsic dryness increases fragility and predisposes the hair shaft to breakage.

HOW DOES THE PROCEDURE WORK?

For Afro-textured hair, follicular unit extraction is performed using a specially adapted manual punch. This manual FUE technique allows for lateral slit extraction, avoiding the twisting motions that could damage the curved follicles characteristic of Afro hair. This precision preserves the integrity of the grafts and, rather importantly, maximizes their survival rate.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR THIS TYPE OF TRANSPLANT?

An afro hair transplant is suitable for men and women with permanent hair loss from conditions like male pattern baldness or traction alopecia, provided they have healthy, adequate donor hair, a flexible scalp, and realistic expectations for the results. A specialist must assess these factors, along with any underlying medical conditions or a history of keloid scarring, to determine individual suitability for the complex, specialized procedure
